Woman, 85, killed, house burgled
An 85-year-old woman was found strangulated to death in her bedroom at her Rani Bagh residence on Tuesday night in a suspected case of robbery.
The police said the deceased, Maya Devi, was found strangulated with her chunni in the early hours on Wednesday by her son Arvind. The family lives on first floor of house number 3213, Mahendra Park, Saraswati Vihar, in northwest Delhi.
“Arvind, who runs a general store, was going to receive his father at the railway station when he found a window of his mother’s room ajar. When he went into the room, he found her lying on the bed with a chunni tied around her neck and the room ransacked. He tried to wake her up but she didn’t respond. The police control room was alerted by Arvind at around 3.30 am,” a police official said.
The cops collected fingerprints from the room. “Some items are reported missing,” the official said.
