Woman among four held for trade in drugs
The police arrested four persons, including a woman, for their alleged involvement in drug peddling and recovered 50 kg of ganja and 10 kg of opium worth `12.5 lakhs in the international market.
Rajiv, 31, and Madhu, 45, were apprehended from Rohini on Saturday allegedly with 10 kg of opium worth `10 lakhs, said deputy commissioner of police (crime) Ashok Chand.
“Rajiv has been running a welding shop at Uttam Nagar for last 7-8 years. Rajiv found it hard to earn sufficient money to impart good education to his two children.
“To earn quick money, Madhu suggested him to start supply of opium. Madhu had been in the trade earlier. She contacted her source who started supplying opium,” the DCP said.
In another case, Mohd Mafid-ul-Islam, 25, hailing from Barpeta, Assam, and Mohd Ali from 24 Parganas, West Bengal, were arrested allegedly with 50 kg of ganja valued at `2.5 lakhs. They were apprehended from near BSF Camp in Dakshinpuri.
