Woman CRPF staffer dies, family alleges harassment
A 35-year-old CRPF woman head constable died under mysterious circumstances on Sunday evening at Vikaspuri police lines in west Delhi with her relatives alleging that she was harassed by seniors.
Police officials said the incident was reported by the Deen Dayal hospital authorities at around 6.15 pm on Sunday.
The deceased woman head constable, identified as Yashoda, a native of Bihar, was declared brought dead at the hospital. Yashoda was posted with CRPF’s 3rd battalion stationed at Vikaspuri police lines.
Police sources revealed that the incident happened at around 5.30 pm. “After finishing her night duty shift, Yashoda slept in the barracks along with other CRPF women officials. When she woke up, she asked one of her colleagues to fetch her some water. After drinking the water, Yashoda complained of pain in her lower abdomen and started vomiting. Her colleagues got nervous and Yashoda was taken to Mata Chanan Devi hospital.”
The doctors at MCD hospital shifted Yashoda to DDU hospital. Sources said that Yashoda’s body turned blue while she was being taken to DDU. “She had died on the way to hospital and doctors declared her brought dead. Her post-mortem will be conducted at DDU hospital on Monday. Once we get the report, we can tell you the exact cause of death. So far, no evidence suggests any foul play,” deputy commissioner of police (west) Sharad Aggarwal said.
Yashoda’s sister is married to a Delhi police official who has alleged that Yashoda had consumed poison as she was mentally harassed by her senior officials, “She had taken up the matter with her seniors but no action was taken,” the deceased’s brother-in-law is reported to have told the police.
