Woman, daughter found dead, kin allege foul play
A 32-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter were found hanging at their Bindapur residence in southwest Delhi on Thursday in highly mysterious circumstances.
The parents of the decea-sed woman have accused her in-laws for the deaths. The deceased have been identified as Meenu Sharma and her daughter Deepti.
The incident came to light at around 11.10 am from A-8, Bharat Garden in Bindapur. A PCR call was made by Mehandi Sharma, the victim’s brother-in-law. He told the police that he found the bodies of Deepti and Meenu dangling from fans in separate rooms.
The deceased’s husband Rahul Sharma, who works in an advertising agency in Mumbai, reached Delhi on Thursday and is being questioned by the police.
“An SDM inquiry has been ordered and Rahul is being questioned in the matter,” deputy commissioner of police (southwest), Sharad Aggarwal said. Police sources revealed that the woman was found lying on a bed while her daughter was found on a sofa in another room. Ropes were found around their necks.
“Prima facie it looks like a murder but we are still investigating. The post-mortem report is awaited. Meenu’s family members allege that she was killed by her in-laws for dowry. The family has alleged that Meenu’s husband Rahul was in Delhi on Wednesday and he was the prime accused in the “murder”.
