Woman found murdered in city
A woman was found brutally murdered by unidentified assailants who chopped off her body in pieces and dumped it in Jaitpur area of southeast Delhi. A senior police official said the incident was reported on August 15. Speaking to this newspaper, southeast DCP P. Karunakarn said that hand and legs of the woman were chopped off with a sharp-edged weapon. “We have kept her body in the mortuary. Nothing was found from her possession that could establish her identity,” said the senior police official of the Delhi police. “It could be a case of love triangle or illegal affair. She was half-naked. She was dumped near Agra Canal in Jaitpur area. We are also suspecting that she might have been raped before murder,” said the police source.
The source said that four teams have been formed to look into the matter. The official added that the Delhi police has informed the NCR police about the incident to establish her identity. “Blood stained clothes were also recovered from the crime scene,” said the police source.

Woman found murdered in Noida
Noida: A 48-year-old woman was found murdered in her house in Sector 36 here, the police said on Saturday.
Seema Mandloi was found dead with her throat slit in the bathroom of her house by her husband Sanjay after he returned from office on Friday night.
Household items were found scattered, police said.
“Investigations have started and we are trying to identify the assailants and the cause of the murder. Beside robbery, other angles too are being investigated,” said a police officer. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

Man held with gold worth `27 lakh

A 30-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold bars valued at about `27 lakh by hiding it in his rectum at the airport on Saturday. Acting on a tip-off, the man was intercepted by custom officials after he arrived from Bangkok. “On detailed examination of his baggage, nothing objectionable was found. But on his personal search, six cut pieces of gold bar, weighing 1,000 grams approximate were recovered from him which he had concealed in his rectum,” custom department officials said.
The total value of the gold is assessed to `26.74 lakh, the officials said.
