Wrestling trainer held for sodomy

A wrestler was arrested in Sultanpuri area of outer Delhi for allegedly sodomising a 15-year-old trainee at his akhara over the last one month.
Police officials said the incident came to light on Sunday when the victim’s mother approached them with a complaint stating that his son was being sodomised at the

local akhara (a wrestling club) by one Amrit Lal, 25, a trainer. The victim was taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for a medical examination where the assault was confirmed.
The police said Lal, a resident of Sonepat, Haryana, was immediately taken into custody following which he broke down and confessed to his crime and was arrested. The victim was learning wrestling for the last three years. “The accused had made advances towards him over the last two months but he maintained silence. He was apparently depressed and confided in his mother who approached the police.
According to a senior police official, the accused used to ask the victim to stay back after finishing his training.
“He then used to take him to his room where he allegedly sodomised him. We have recorded the statement of the victim and a case has been registered against him,” the official said.
