Youth in dock for circulating sleazy MMS
A 23-year-old youth is in dock for allegedly circulating a sleazy MMS of his classmate on a social networking site by morphing her picture after creating a fake account in her name purportedly to malign her character. Both of them were engineering students at an institute in Dehra Dun in Uttaranchal.
Accused Ravi Shankar Tiwari was evading arrest since 2007 when he had allegedly posted the MMS of his classmate for the first time on the false identity from a cyber cafe in the Mukherjee Nagar area.
However, he ran out of luck for the second time when he posted the same MMS on a social networking site from a cyber cafe in Noida in 2009. With the help of Manoj, owner of the cafe, the police arrested Mr Tiwari, who used to visit the cafe regularly.
Mr Tiwari was allegedly suspended by the college after the victim complained to the authorities of harassment by the accused. When she approached the police, the accused came to Delhi and morphed her pictures with porn films to malign her. He had also allegedly circulated her mobile numbers on the networking site.
After the mobile numbers were allegedly displayed on the Net, she got a number of calls which made her life miserable. Navin Sharma, additional public prosecutor for the state, told the court that Mr Tiwari has committed a serious offence. The girl’s career is at stake even if the porn MMS is a morphed one and not that of the girl. He had done this act just to malign the girl’s character. He added that an FIR was registered in this regard in the Karol Bagh police station in 2007.
After hearing the arguments of Mr Sharma, Justice S.L. Bhayana of the Delhi high court dismissed the anticipatory bail application of Mr Tiwari.
