Youth falls from water tank, dies
An 18-year-old boy died here after falling from a water tank he had climbed to watch Ramlila celebrations at Mongolpuri in outer Delhi.
Pawan, 18, had climbed on the water tank on the rooftop of a government school to watch the Ramlila celebrations. While climbing down he came in contact with an electric wire and fell down.
According to the police, he fell on an iron rod which pierced through his body. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but he died during treatment.
The police said it is awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain whether the youth suffered shock when he came in contact with the electric wire.
“Prima facie, he has not suffered any burn injuries. So, only a post-mortem will tell whether he suffered electric shock,” the official said.
With this, a total of six persons, including a seven-year-old girl, died during Dussehra and Durga Puja celebrations on Thursday.
Seven-year-old Bhavya Gupta died when a wooden plank from a giant Ravana effigy fell on her at Ramlila Maidan here.
The Delhi police on Friday registered a case against organisers of Dussehra celebrations at Ram Lila Maidan in this regard.
Meanwhile, four youth drowned at Wazirabad when they were immersing idols of Goddess Durga.
