Youth felled by bullet in firing over water dispute
A 22-year-old youth was shot dead and four others injured in a dispute over water in northeast Delhi on Sunday evening. The incident was reported from Karawal Nagar at around 11 pm on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Bhagat Singh. “Four days back, the supply to a common tap was cut as it was illegal. Two groups led by Vijender Chaudhary and Vijender Sharma started blaming each other,” a source said.
“Sharma and Chaudhary got into an argument which turned violent. An unidentified man of Sharma group took out a revolver and started firing indiscriminately. Five people were injured. They were rushed to GTB hospital where Singh was declared brought dead
Meanwhile, a 49-year-old Delhi police headconstable, Ishwar Singh, was killed by a truck while on duty near Phool Mithai Chowk in north Delhi on Sunday at 11.30 pm. Singh was chasing a truck for violating traffic rules. “Singh signalled the truck driver to stop but he accelerated. Singh started running with the truck and tripped,” a source said. He was rushed to St. Stephen’s hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
