Youth held for firing at hotel in CP
A minor scuffle with the hotel staff over a minor issue turned ugly on Friday night when two youths allegedly opened fire outside Hotel Park on Parliament Street after coming out of a restaurant there.
The incident took place outside the hotel at around 2 am when two youth, identified as Pradeep Dahiya, a resident of Rohini, who has allegedly six cases including that of murder against him, and Rahul were coming out of the hotel, the police said.
Sources said Dahiya and Rahul had a tiff with the hotel staff in Agni restaurant after which they came out.
“As they were preparing to leave, Dahiya took out a pistol from his car and fired in air. No one was injured. The hotel staff immediately called the police control room police and cops rushed to the hotel. The duo were arrested and a case under different sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Arms Act has been registered against them,” additional commissioner of police (New Delhi), K.C. Dwivedi said.
The hotel is located a little more than a kilometre from Parliament House and police station.
The police sent the duo for a medical examination to confirm whether they were drunk. A report is awaited in this regard. Meanwhile, three persons, including a 60-year-old woman, were injured in Hari Nagar when a mini-truck carrying food for CRPF men hit two cars.

MCD told to wrap up graft cases
AGE CORRESPONDENT
NEW DELHI
Dec. 26: A division bench comprising Delhi high court Chief Justice Deepak Misra and Justice Manmohan has in a recent order directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to complete its enquiries on a “war footing” into about 4,300 pending corruption-related cases. The bench passed the order after hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by a Delhi-based lawyer Vivek Garg.
Mr Garg had sought the court’s direction over large number of cases pending against several MCD officials and enclosed details he got through the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
In reply to an RTI query, the public information officer of the MCD’s vigilance department had last year said that as many as 4,299 cases were pending against about 3,350 officials.
After hearing the PIL, the court asked the civic agency to complete enquiries on a “war footing”.
