Youth killed, 2 hurt as speeding car hits verge

A 25-year-old man died and his two associates were injured when their speeding car rammed into a central road verge in Hazrat Nizamuddin area on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Javed, a resident of Pushp Vihar. “His friends, Danish, 23, and Charan Singh, 28, are in hospital. The accident took place at 1.10 am,” said a senior police officer.

“The three ticket clerks at Satyam Cinema, Nehru Place, were headed towards Mathura Road. Danish was speeding. He lost control on the turn near Sundar Nagar market and the car hit the central verge,” the officer said. “We evacuated Danish and Charan from the mangled remains with the help of gas cutters,” the officer said.
“We rushed them to AIIMS Trauma Centre where Javed was declared brought dead. A case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered,” the officer said.
