Fruity blend for the holy days
When all others are doing Navratri special dishes, Flavor of Mughals has created special drinks menu to commemorate each one of nine holy days of Navratri. The restaurant has dedicated one non-alcoholic concoction in different colour to the goddess of that particular day.
The unique concept has a scientific reason behind it. “All the restaurants focus on food during Navratri while it is recommended that fluids, juices and water should be consumed more when you are fasting. Eating once a day is not enough to carry out everyday tasks, so we are offering drinks that are healthy and necessary to keep one going,” says Navneet Kapoor, managing director of the restaurant.
While creating this special menu, the chefs have kept in mind the characteristics of the ingredients used, and specifically their colour. “Like for Chandi, who is a combination of three Goddesses, we have used three main ingredients — orange juice, pineapple juice and blue curacao. Red is for Bhairavi and Durga, pink for Amba and white for Bhadrakaali. For the Goddess of ann (food), Annapoorna, we have created a drink with chunks of apple, mint, lemon and cinnamon sticks and call it the Duet Apple. Goddess Durga is the ferocious one, so we have dedicated Beetroot Mania, which is made of beetroot juice, carrot juice and mixed fruit juice, to her,” informs chef Bishan.
The restaurant has decided to serve these drink options on all the nine days. “Though there is an every day special, all the juices will be available every day,” ends Navneet.
