Milk sandwich for a snappy snack
Milk sandwich for a snappy snack
When five girls are away from home, in the mountains of Kasauli, with few utensils in the kitchen, some basic supplies and hungry stomachs in the middle of the night, those cooking lessons which we could have taken at home would have helped.
But I think an empty stomach actually stopped all other activity in the mind and we accidentally created something that we still love to savour whenever we have no cook around.
This is what we called Milk Sandwich. Here’s how it’s done.
Milk Sandwich
Ingredients:
w Bread slices as per requirement
w Paneer
w Potatoes around 7
w Salt, according to taste
w Chaat masala 3 tsp
w Red chillies and garam masala, according to taste
w Toppings uncooked maggi
or namkeen
Method:
Take some paneer and keep it aside for further use. Then boil potatoes in a pressure cooker, and then take them out and mash them.
Heat oil in a pan, add mashed potatoes, paneer, salt, chaat masala, garam masala and red chilli powder. Cook mixture for a few minutes. Put it on the bread, top it with uncooked Maggi (I suggest this could also be substituted with spicy namkeen).
Serve hot with green chillies. This dish is guaranteed to fill your stomach, and reaffirm your faith in survival skills. Cooking lessons? Who needs them? When you know how to improvise.
