Cell radiation de-alert
All those nervous about getting cancer from cellphones will breathe a sigh of relief as a comprehensive study has found no link to support this hypothesis. Danish scientists, after 10 years of intensive research, have found no link between cellphone use and the dreaded disease. This debunks, almost, the long-held worry about the radiation that mobiles emit. Many a user refuses to put the phone in his breast pocket for fear that it could affect the heart.
Ray-emitting devices often evoke such concerns. Microwaves, television sets and mobile phones are all among modern conveniences that scare users. Many traditionalists still do not heat their food in microwaves, convinced that the results will be dangerous, though there is no evidence to support it. In any case, the slight damage they may cause is far outweighed by their uses. Such modcons are now part of modern living and nobody is about to give them up just because they possibly could — in the very long run — prove harmful.
The latest research should cheer up not only companies that manufacture cellphones but also prolific users. But even if there is no fear of cancer, overuse of cellphones can be annoying — to other people. There is no place on earth where the sound of the phone ringing doesn’t intrude, quickly followed by loud conversation which makes no sense to others. The ubiquitous phone pipes up in a darkened cinema, a soulful concert or even a funeral. If only manufacturers and scientists could come up with some way to keep this from happening, we would truly rejoice.
