For the students, by the students
Vaibhav Gupta, a third-year student in the Engineering Physics department at Delhi Technological University (DTU) has a solution to the problems faced by higher education students in India.
A representative of Aglasem.com, the one-stop portal for students, he is a click and a call away. “I take 10 to 15 calls a week to guide students out of their maze of problems. We are now marketing the portal outside Delhi to help students know about the opportunities that exist for them,” he says.
Aglasem.com started in 2009 with the previous years’ question papers and study materials for engineering college students by a small team of DTU students. The portal is now a full-fledged information pool for everything related to academics. Today, it has sections dedicated to school students, graduate and postgraduate admission seekers and job hunters. It is no longer restricted to DTU students, but also involves students from colleges across India. The issues addressed on the portal range from exam queries to other grievances. Its founding team has recently registered the company as AglaSem EduTech Pvt. Ltd., and bolstered its network of students across colleges who send genuine information and man its helpline.
“Aglasem claims to be different in two parameters — by covering all the steps of education and providing only genuine information,” says Anand Meena, founder, Aglasem. Meena graduated from DTU last year but his venture is expanding in terms of quality and quantity. “Presently, we have focused on the engineering, medical, law and commerce fields, but more is yet to come,” he adds.
