Vidya wants to act with SRK

After the back-to-back success of The Dirty Picture and Kahaani, Vidya Balan is on a high; and it’s evident from the way she is glowing.

At the release of DVD of Kahaani, Vidya stole the show with her presence and quintessential candour that one has come to expect from her. Dressed in a Sabyasachi Mukherjee sari, Vidya looked her ethereal self, with lovely jhumkas and a trademark bindi completing the look.
But having been a part of two “author-backed roles”, she now wants to work alongside the leading heroes in the industry too. From Shah Rukh Khan to Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya says that she wants to work with everyone, with Shah Rukh Khan being her favourite, of course, in reel and real life. “I’ve grown up watching SRK and can’t stop blushing every time he comes on screen. I have been waiting for an opportunity to work with him, but haven’t been offered any,” says Vidya.
Shah Rukh may find the world an increasingly unfriendly place to be in, as Wednesday night’s fracas would seem to suggest, but he can still count on Vidya to be there.
“Any girl who has grown up watching Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge would fancy working with SRK. And it’s not any different for me,” says Vidya, adding that apart from the King Khan, Abhishek Bachchan is another favourite. “Abhishek is someone who I am comfortable with and can express myself with ease. I am looking forward to working with him again,” says Vidya.
In fact, there are also talks about the remake of The Dirty Picture with Rakhi Sawant essaying Vidya’s role. Vidya says she’s looking forward to the new version. “I am looking forward to see how Rakhi portrays the character. I think she’s a lot of masti,” says Vidya, currently enjoying a break after a long and hectic shooting schedule. She will soon start working on Ghanchakkar, a comic thriller with Emraan Hashmi.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
