Flaunt denim skirts with flirty blouses

Denim skirts are a rage not just among fashion addicts, but also young girls who like to team them up with their spunky gladiators. The fun part is that you can flaunt them with flirty blouses, ruffled tops and also with tights and your overall look will be classic and it’s no surprise why. “Denim skirts are a must have this season in your fashion wardrobe as it is timeless, fabulous, stylish and chic,” says Rohan Bhargava owner of Muah.

Denim skirts are the most daring and trend-setting nowadays, specially the shorter version with pleats.
“With temperatures soaring to an all-time high, they make for a comfortable prêt option whilst making an effortless style statement. Shorter styles should hit higher on the waist as they elongate the legs. Team them with a funky tee and colourful sneakers for a sporty look or pair them with a suave blouse or strappies for a feminine demeanour. Go minimalistic on the accessories front and stick to light, delicate jewellery. Sport flats that reach above or below the ankle mark as they tend to enhance your height,” says designer Pallavi Mohan.
It is the season that inspires us to go eclectic with nomadic gypsies. So, create an overall mood that is both ethereal and modern.“Each skirt is special and unique, often mixing techniques such as peek-a-boo prints, crystal embellishment, and colourful repair stitches,” said Kiernan Lambeth, Denim Designer at 7 For All Mankind.
Denim is the most long lasting and tough fabric ever created in the fashion world and may not be beaten or overtaken. Skirts are the choice of the ultimate diva, as they can be more fitter and have as many flairs as one desires. “It looks hot when worn a little above the knees and gorgeous when it’s till the ankle, plus it can be both funky and flirty. And you can have a variety of embellishments, stitch designs, flairs and the most popular one these days is patching of fabrics like jute, leather and velvet to make it more trendy,” says Gautam. Kunal Pant, Head Product and Design, s.Oliver says that it can also be a tricky trend. “Whatever denim trends are present in jeans can be easily captured in form of skirts, but now they are only more practical and sexier,” he adds.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
