Sizzle with Haute Pants

It’s now the next generation, which is, taking fashion to a new level. As summers are the time to flirt with flowy attires, fashion-conscious youngsters are flaunting funky trousers in vibrant colours, making it a perfect way to sizzle in the blistering heat. From elegant A-line trousers, skinny denims to dungaree style pants, Patiala salwar

style loose harems, denim jeans, stylish trousers in chirpy shades like reds, pinks and yellow are becoming popular and a must-have for this season.
Bhoomika Bhatt, a fashion design student, recently bought a cool pair of denims from United Colours of Benetton in bright pink, and she says that the colours lift her mood. “Blue and black denims look boring. Skinny denims in bright shades teamed up with a white tee gives a trendy look.”
Charu Sachdev, who was recently spotted in a party in sexy pink satin A-line trousers, suggests fashion tips for this season. “Colourful trousers are really in this season and they look best when worn in soft fabrics like satin and linen. Besides bright trousers look perfect if clubbed with a nice off-shoulder, tank or a short blouse for a graceful look,” she says.
Although harems are considered to be out, its new funky form called Arabic lowers or dhoti pants with a sleek silhouette adds to an elegant style statement. Says Pretika Khanna, a journalism student, who has recently bought one in blue from Joss in Khan Market, Delhi.
“It’s perfect for a casual as well as evening wear in summers. It gives you a more curvier look with a tiny waist,” she adds.
Seconds Sneha Singh, a media professional, who shares her love for ‘ginnie’ pants from Shoppers Stop. “These are trousers, but once you wear them they look like a wraparound skirt. One can also find them in animal, polka or multi-colour stripes and you can team them up with sexy spaghetti tops or loose kaftan-style kurtis with chunky heels.”
Nitin Bal Chauhan shares, “As in India, the culture for hot pants and short skirts is yet to grow, youth look out for more funky trousers for a fresh look, so these wraparound trousers, low crotch lowers and harems pants will always be in vogue. And many love to experiment with red, yellow, green for a more grungy look to express freedom and revolution.”
He adds, “One should go for interesting prints like screen printed trousers or hand printed textiles with a fusion of an Indo-western look in turquoise, yellow and emerald green.”
Taking a cue from this latest trend, designer Pallavi Mohan’s spring summer collection embodies three-fourths in ladybug prints and coral colours.
She says, “The trend revolves around breezy materials like linen blended into vibrant colours and quirky prints to bring out that playful, free spirited essence of the season.”
