Sleeping beauty
My favourite shoot is the one we did for the Spring Summer 2011. The shoot is frozen in time, when all the elements synergise and work together from the inspiration including clothing, lighting and model to create an ethereal dream.
The picture itself tells a story, and evokes a deep emotion within the observer. The model was Lakshmi Menon. The idea was twisted seduction and sensuality.
Lakshmi is incredibly feminine and sensual, and has an amazing body-language. The approach to styling was chiefly concerned with the intimate dynamic between the body and clothing, and how one should flow into the other.
The theme of this shoot was organic and innocent beauty. The picture was an exquisite blend of clever wrapped drapery and the naive sleeping beauty in a couture shape.
More than a fond memory, the experience with my team was quite interesting.
We shot in at a stud farm at Bangalore Palace that had an old decapitated building. The farm was strewn with horse’ manure, and we had a great time trying to swat away the flies, bugs and tried to avoid inhaling the fumes from the manure. The photographer was photographer Prabuddha Dasgupta.
