Swing into the mood of Sixties glam
The Swinging Sixties are back in vogue this season, and the lady-like look with a glam twist is huge all over. One of the major trend-setters of the ’60s was Jacqueline Kennedy, whose tailored suits, wide-legged trousers, knee-length and box-pleated skirts are the hottest trend again.
This season Audrey Hepburn’s classic shift dress is a hot favourite in electric blues, coral pinks and bold stripes. Varsha Bhawnani, stylist at Vinegar, says, “Colour infused floor-length maxis that reflect the flower child era made a strong comeback this season. And, of course our all-time favourite, the little black dress continues to remain timeless.”
Tapering skits, well-structured high-waist suits in bold colours dominated the ’60s. Designer Vidhi Shah of the label b:Kind says, “Ruffled neckline and large feminine collars, mini skits, jumpsuits, boxy jackets in bold colours are very popular this season.”
Designer Preeti S. Kapoor informs that in the ’60s glamour was still sinking in and women were willing to experiment with their styles. She adds, “The lady-like look is all about going bold with elegance. The feminine charm of midi-skits, maxis, frilly collars and high-waist trousers can be highlighted with bright make-up and big hair-dos. Use bold accessories to rev it up.”
