AIFF-IMG meeting over IPL-style league put off

The scheduled meeting between the All Indian Football Federation and its commercial partner IMG-Reliance here on Tuesday to discuss the final plans relating to the IPL-styled league has been postponed to later this week.

IMG-Reliance was likely to appraise the AIFF of the detailed plans to host the event . “The meeting will be held later this week though the date and timing is yet to be finalised,” I-League CEO Sunando Dhar was quoted as saying.
The tournament hit a roadblock after many I-League clubs decided not to release their players for the proposed league. And with the kind of stand the I-League Professional Clubs’ Association has taken, the meeting’s outcome would not make them change their mind.
“They (AIFF and IMG-Reliance) are meeting tomorrow and we don’t know what can come out of the meeting. Because we are not releasing players for the tournament, that is 100 per cent sure,” president of the association Raj Gomes had said.
