Government High School Alkapuri, Haryana, hammered Government Senior Secondary School, Car Nicobar, 17-0 in a Group III encounter, to register their biggest win in the Under-17 girls category of the 53rd Subroto Cup schools football tournament in the capital on Thursday.

As many as four players — Munesh, Suman, Sonia and Sanju — scored hat-tricks as the Haryana team dominated proceedings at the Ambedkar Stadium. In another group match, Nagaland’s Government Higher Secondary School thrashed Pravara Kanya Vidya Mandir of Maharashtra 6-1.
In Group II, Tamil Nadu-based Sri Ramakrishna Saratha High School qualified for the quarter-finals, with a 5-0 win over Daly College of Indore. Meanwhile, the girls team from Afghanistan were handed a 0-9 thrashing by NCC School, Manipur, in their Group IV match.
