Clash of the titans
LIVERPOOL vs MANCHESTER UNITED
Despite having had the worst start in a hundred years, Liverpool will go into the match against Manchester United on equal terms, if not as favourites.
For the past three-four years, regardless of general form, Liverpool have always managed to raise their game against the top sides, especially Manchester United.
Last year’s racism row may take a backseat after the Hillsborough revelations of last week, but the edge to this rivalry still remains. Sir Alex Ferguson saw his team scrape through against Galatasaray and will know that if his side miss the same number of chances against Liverpool, he will leave Anfield empty-handed.
Prediction: 1-1
MANCHESTER CITY vs ARSENAL
Manchester City suffered a disappointing loss to Real Madrid during the week after Roberto Mancini’s side had taken the lead twice at Bernabeu.
They will be looking to bounce back to winning ways as they play host to Arsenal at the Etihad.
Sergio Aguero was not utilised against Madrid and it is likely that he will start tomorrow night.
However, Aguero’s return is tempered with Samir Nasri being ruled out to face his former team due to a hamstring strain.
Similarly, the absence of Micah Richards and Jolean Lescott has caused City’s defence to look extremely vulnerable this season. Arsenal are unbeaten this season and their new found defensive stability will be tested to the maximum.
Prediction: 2-1 to Manchester City
