Dalal sees Ganga Int’l into last 16

Jatin Dalal’s unbeaten 50 and his 76-run fourth-wicket partnership with Abhishek Vats 34 saw Ganga International School pip a determined Muni International School on the last delivery and claim a pre-quarter-final berth in the 1st Fast Trax Daredevils Schools Cup here on Friday.

Needing eight to win in the final over and two from the final delivery, Ganga International got home to top the Group C league. It was the second successive last-ball finish for Muni International but unlike against St Sophia’s School, they ended up on the losing side despite Rishabh Triyal’s 63.
Suraj Rai produced the best bowling effort in the tournament with figures of 7/14 in four overs to star in a quick win for Salwan Boys (Rajinder Nagar) over Government School (Bharat Nagar) and secure a slot in the knockout stage from Group N with two wins.
Lakshay’s heroics (36, 3/19) saw St Michael’s School beat Salwan Public School (Old Rajinder Nagar) by three runs in Group O and force a triple tie. However, SPS had the best run rate (6.92) of the three teams and made it to the pre-quarters ahead of St Michael’s and Bal Bharati Public School (Dwarka).

Group C: Muni International 120/8 in 20 overs (Rishabh Triyal 63, Rohit Mehta 3/27) lost to Ganga International 121/6 in 20 overs (Jatin Dalal 50 not out, Avinash Kashyap 2/17).

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
