Delhi schools have it easy

Delhi schools had a field day in the Under-17 boys section of the 53rd Subroto Cup football tournament in the capital on Saturday with Modern School, Barakhamba Road, and Air Force School, Bal Bharti, registering big wins in the group stage.

The Air Force School blanked Saini Senior Secondary School of Rewari 8-0 with hat-tricks from Tilak (9th, 12th & 37th minutes) and Dilli Ram (14th, 18th & 21st). Modern School, meanwhile, beat P.P. Savini High School, Gujarat 7-1 to stay in hunt for a quarter-final berth.
Jai Minocha and Sarthak Kumar chipped in with two goals apiece while Aaditya, Dhruv Pargai and Omain Warsi contributed one each to complete the rout.
In another one-sided encounter, Sports Hostel, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu got the better of Daman & Diu 10-0. Y. Puviarasan scored a hat trick for the winners.
The Dynamo Kiev team from Ukraine beat Amwi Jarain Secondary School, Jowai, Meghalaya 5-0 in their first outing at the Subroto Cup.
