Delhi Utd, Shahadara Club in fray
As many as 14 top clubs will be seen in action at the month-long DLF-ONGC- SAIL- Delhi Soccer Assocation annual senior division open club football league championship, which gets under way in the capital on Tuesday.
Matches will be held at the Commonwealth Games sports complex, Akshardham, and the DDA Netaji Subhash Sports Complex in Jasola.
Participating clubs including regining champions ISS Delhi United FC and runners-up Shahdara Football Club.
Teams have been divided in to two groups of seven each in the preliminary league stage.
Shahadara, Solutrean-Hindustan, Shimla Youngs, New Delhi, Heroes, BOM-Ahbab, VVIP-Goodwill FC make up Group A, while Group B includes ISS-Delhi United, Tarun Sangha, Grant-Thorhton-Royals Rangers, Indian Air Force New Delhi, Youngmen SC, Veterans FC and NVD-City FC.
Clubs can submit a list of 30 players which will include four foreign players — one of whom must be of Asian origin — apart from outstation players.
The top four teams from each group will qualify for the super league, scheduled at the Ambedkar Stadium in the capital.
