DPS, Modern School in MYFC semi-finals

Sarath Gupta scored a hat-trick as Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, beat St Xavier School 3-0 in the quarter-finals of the 3rd Mahindra Youth Football Challenge, Delhi-leg, here on Tuesday.

DPS dominated from early on with Sarath giving the team lead in the 12th minute. He continued with his good show netting again in the 18th and 27th minutes, as DPS led 3-0 in the half-time. The second half saw St Xavier put up some resistance but that was too little too late.
In the day’s other matches, Modern School, Barakhamba Road, blanked Birla Vidya Niketan School 4-0. Ramakesh Sharma (7th & 10th minutes ) struck twice while Suraj and Himanshu scored a goal each to seal the victory.
In a thrilling contest, Navyug Public School pipped Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, in a penalty shootout 5-3, after a goal-less draw in regulation play.
Later, Modern School, Vasant Vihar, defeated Apex Public School while Ganga International School pipped Ryan International School by identical 1-0 margins.
