Fabregas urges fans to keep faith in ‘great’ manager Arsene Wenger
Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, who left the club for Barcelona last season, has urged fans to back manager Arsene Wenger.
Fabregas said Arsenal has a great manager in Wenger and some really good players in Jack Wilshere, Thomas Vermaelen, Bacary Sagna and Abou Diaby, who have been plagued with long injury spells.
Fabregas is also aware of the growing fears that star striker Robin Van Persie could soon follow him through the Emirates exit in search of greater glory. He reminded fans that it was Wenger only who propelled these players and the club to glory, and said there is no point comparing the current crop of players with the previous greats of the club.
“Arsenal have great players, great fans and a great manager. They will turn it around. There is no point to keep comparing the team to the Invincibles. That will not get you anywhere,” The Sun quoted Fabregas, as saying.
Fabregas is convinced that good times would be back very soon for Arsenal, and urged fans to back Wenger as the Gunners are on verge of ending their seventh successive season without adding anything into their trophy cabinet.
“I still have a huge affection for the club and it definitely makes me sad whenever I see them lose. But Arsene Wenger knows the club and players and will turn it around. Being a manager is a very difficult job and you are always criticized when things don't go well,” he added.
