Final leg of preparations begin
The 27-member senior national football squad shifted base to their final leg of the preparatory camp for the forthcoming Nehru Cup to Jaypee Greens in Greater Noida on Thursday.
The squad were earlier based in Bengaluru, where they trained for a fortnight under national coach Wim Koevermans.
The Nehru Cup begins from August 22. India will lock horns with Syria on the opening day at 7 pm.
“We have had a fruitful training session in Bengaluru. The boys have been co-operative and have displayed great attitude,” Koevermans said. “As we shift base to the Delhi-NCR, we will be training at the Jaypee Greens in Greater Noida. Hopefully the weather stays good as the last week will be very crucial.”
Torrential rain had forced Koevermans to shift base to KSFA’s artificial turf after training at the Jaypee Greens in early August.
