Football meet for martyrs

Srinagar will host the 14th Police Martyrs Memorial football tournament from June 30 to July 16 to commemorate the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for the safety of the people and safeguarding the integrity of the nation. Teams from all over the country will participate in the event, according to information received here.
Director general of Police, Rajendra Kumar, reviewed the arrangements for the tournament at a meeting held at Armed Police Headquarters in Srinagar on Wednesday.
Senior police officials and members of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association took part in the meeting. Kumar said that with such events an atmosphere of peace will prevail and it will also help in the promotion of sports culture in the state, he added.
