I am Mourinho and I don’t change, says new Real coach
Jose Mourinho said he hoped to sprinkle some of his magic over Real Madrid when he was unveiled as the Spanish giants’ new coach on Monday.
The Portuguese joins Real on a four-year deal in the wake of leading Inter Milan to an historic treble of successes in Italy’s Serie A championship, Coppa Italia and Champions League.
Mourinho, who replaces Manuel Pellegrini after the Chilean failed to bring league or Champions League success to the club, said however he would not change his combative approach to the game. Mourinho said: “I don’t know if I was born to coach Real Madrid but I was born to be a football coach. I love important challenges. I am Jose Mourinho and I don’t change. I arrive with all my qualities and my defects.”

Players’ contracts on AIFF’s agenda
Age Correspondent
New Delhi
May 31: Even as the world gears up for football’s grand show, absentees India will finalise plans for the next best thing — the 2011 AFC Asian Cup in Doha — when the top brass of the All India Football Federation meet at Football House here on Tuesday to finalise the plan to centrally contract the national team players and pry them away from their respective I-League clubs.
A list of 30 players will be given contracts by the AIFF with 15 per cent hike to their existing salary on a pro-rata basis for eight months. They will train under national coach Bob Houghton for the January 7 to 29 event in Doha. The national players, including captain Baichung Bhutia, will also be present and will meet the AIFF officials to discuss the issue.
The federation may have to cough up more cash if players such as Mohammed Rafi and Steven Dias of the now defunct Mahindra United, who have signed new club contracts at double or triple of their last season’s salaries, don’t accept the terms.
