I-League: Mohun Bagan back in top four
An element of shoddiness notwithstanding, Mohun Bagan carved out a much-needed 2-0 over Pailan Arrows to return to winning ways in Friday’s I-League tie at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan here.
For the time being, there will be relief in the Bagan camp as that they are back in the top four of the standings with 30 points.
That said, a full-strength Mohun Bagan were kept at bay for 64 minutes by the second last-placed side.
Besides, a couple of sitters each from a misfiring Odafa Okolie and Jose Ramirez Barreto went abegging in the first half.
In fact, the Arrows could have seen things go their way with better finishing. On quite a few occasions, they caught the Bagan defence off-guard before sloppy work inside the 18-yard circle foiled their attempts.
The vigil finally ended in the 65th minute when Brazilian Barreto got one in with a header off countrymate Husdon Lima’s corner-kick.
