Intense sessions mark Day One
After a long day in the field, trainees at the Panasonic Dream Camp, which opened in Shillong on Tuesday, unwound with a screening of the soccer classic film Escape to Victory.
On the first day of the camp, the focus was primarily on a couple of training sessions along with a classroom session.
In the morning, the trainees were put through drills aimed at a primary skill in football, passing.
After some passive training that included free movement and more touches on the ball, the training became more active to encourage decision making with opponents and involving various match related scenarios and focusing on receiving the ball.
At the classroom session, participants discussed various nuances of the game using videos from the recently held Euro 2012 including some of the best goals from the tournament.
It also included videos on best training practices involving special drills used by coaches for youngsters around the world before the trainees returned to the field for a session on dribbling. The session ended with a three-team league where nine versus nine matches were conducted.
