Juve may play in India this year
Fresh after retaining the Scudetto, Italian football giants Juventus are planning to widen their global network by linking up with the Indian football in the coming season. The Turin-based club has proposed to play exhibition matches in December this year apart from forecasting the launch of a football school project in the Indian cities. Juventus are likely to play exhibition matches in Kochi and Mumbai or in Gujarat.
Daniele Lunazzi, international brand manager of Juventus FC told this paper that the club is looking with extreme interest into India.
“We are evaluating opportunities to play exhibition matches and to organise specific events dedicated to our the Indian fans,” said Lunazzi. “We are thinking about the right way to export our Juventus Soccer School project in order to have academies and camps to help the youth and to help kids in India that love playing football,” he added.
Kshatriya Sports, the agency which is bringing the club to India has said that the talks were progressing with the respective state football associations.
The Kerala Football Association that had previously missed out on chances to bring an English Premier League team and the Brazilian Masters for exhibition games claimed to be pressing hard on earning a date with the Italian powerhouse.
“The winter break is when we plan to bring them down for an exhibition match. Discussions are still on and we are hopeful,” said KFA secretary Anil Kumar.
