Moonlight, Heroes secure full points
Moonlight SC and Punjab Heroes FC won their respective matches in the super-six league stage of the Delhi Soccer Association A division football league at the Commonwealth Games Sports Complex in the capital on Wednesday.
In the first match of the day, Moonlight SC were trailing 0-1 at half-time but made a spirited comeback to bag full three points against Young Boys (2-1).
They were jolted early, in the third minute of the match as Young Boys took the lead with a strike from Narinder Paul.
They fought hard for the equaliser which only came in the second half. In the 65th minute, Jaggi Singh struck for Moonlight SC to bring them back into the match. Fifteen minutes later, Shashi Singh’s strike sealed the match for Moonlight SC.
Later, Punjab Heroes rode on a Manish Negi double for a 3-1 win over Young Sports.
The Punjab side took lead in the 19th minute through Negi’s strike and maintained the lead till the break.
Young Sports fetched home the equaliser in the 51st minute through Kevesh but Punjab Heroes earned their lead back a minute later through Vasudevan.
Negi then sealed the match for his team with a 65th-minute goal.
