The movers and shakers

Money, money, money. Must be funny. In the rich man’s world. Money, money, money. Always sunny. In the rich man’s world... The giants of European football, backed by the riches of their overseas owners, are showing no restraint as they look to strengthen their respective sides before the end of the transfer window. Few big names have already sealed the deal, namely, Radamel Falcao from Atletico Madrid to Monaco and Neymar from Santos to Barcelona. And many more are on the verge.
We take a look at few of the in-demand players.
Gonzalo Higuain: It’s only a question of when. The Argentine wants to leave Real Madrid to get more playing time, Arsenal have made their interest known quite unambiguously. But the striker is still at Bernabeu. Reason? Real want more than what the Gunners are offering. Yes, it’s all about money!
Stevan Jovetic: The Fiorentina striker is a gem. Expectedly, Manchester City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal are all in the market. Most likely destination? The Etihad Stadium.
Roberto Soldado: Tottenham Hotspur are hot on heels of the Valencia striker but are struggling hard to bring down the Spanish club’s asking price.
Edinson Cavani: The Uruguayan is as frequent on transfer rumour columns as he is on the scoresheets. Everybody wants the hitman. And yeah, Napoli want more money.
And finally, Luiz Suarez: The bite-happy striker hates English media, craves for Champions League, will find it hard to resist Real Madrid and also likes Italy. But the only issue is the exit door at Anfield is shut firmly, at least according to manager Brendan Rodgers. And for a change, Liverpool are not looking to cash in on the Uruguayan. The club understand that without the striker, they wouldn’t have much teeth next season. For that sole reason, Liverpool, despite Suarez’s public appeal to let him go, are desperately trying to hold on to him, by the skin of their teeth.
