Narzary propels India colts to win
Striker Holicharan Narzary scored a brace as the India Under-22 football team thrashed a combined Delhi XI side 4-0 in their second practice match at the Ambedkar Stadium in the capital on Tuesday.
Besides Narzary, Pritam Kotal and Lalrindika Ralte were the other goal scorers for the national squad.
The match was played in three sections of 30 minutes each as head coach Arthur Papas tried out different combinations.
“The intention was to field as many players as possible,” Papas said after the match.
“The boys have improved a lot in the nine days we have been together,” added the Australian.
Striker Jeje Lapeklua — who recovered from a knee injury —also featured in the match but came on as a substitute in the last 30 minutes.
The Indian team leave for Dubai on Thursday for a seven-day exposure camp ahead of their opening match in the AFC Under-22 Championship against Lebanon on June 23 in Muscat.
