ONGC, Navy post wins in Durand Cup

ONGC and Indian Navy posted easy wins in their quarter-final league matches of the 126th Durand Cup football tournament here on Wednesday.
While ONGC thrashed Army Red 4-1, Indian Navy got the better of Air India 2-0 at the Ambedkar Stadium.
Asim Hasan (39th and 58th minutes), Henry Ezeh (65th) and Parvinder Singh (76th) found the net for ONGC, before Vipin T.V. scored the consolation goal for Army Red in the 19th minute.
Riyad B. and (75th) and Raman Rai (77th) posted a goal each for Indian Navy.
Meanwhile, Moham-medan Sporting will be playing in the Durand Cup for the first time since 2006. They face Army Green in their opening encounter on Thursday.
The other team in this group are another Kolkata outfit Kalighat, who beat Army Green 4-1 in their opener on Tuesday.

Brazil beat portugal in friendly
Boston (Massachusetts), Sept. 11: Barcelona star Neymar got on the scoresheet as Brazil came from behind to beat Portugal 3-1 in a friendly at Gillette Stadium here on Tuesday.
Neymar, Thiago Silva and Atletico Mineiro’s striker Jo all netted as Brazil, fresh from a 6-0 demolition of Australia last weekend, claimed the win at the home of NFL franchise the New England Patriots.
Raul Meireles scored the lone goal for Portugal taking advantage of a defensive error by Brazil in the 17th minute to make it 1-0. Silva leveled six minutes later by heading home a Neymar corner kick and then Neymar gave Brazil the lead with a goal in the 34th minute.
Jo added a third in the 49th minute by converting a cross from Maxwell. — AFP
