Pune FC outclass Churchill

Pune FC surged into the second spot in the I-League table after thrashing last year’s champions Churchill Brothers 4-1 at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune on Thursday.
The I-League debutants went ahead in the 26th minute through Japanese recruit Arata Izumi. Edmar Figueira doubled the advantage five minutes later. Churchill e

qualised in the 57th minute through Nigerian striker Felix Chimaokwu twelve minutes into the second period. Pune FC sealed the points through Figueira’s strike in the 71st minute. Goalkeeper Subrata Pal also got on the score-sheet in injury time as he stepped up to convert a penalty. With the win, Pune FC move to 41 points from 25 matches, two clear of Churchill. — Agencies
