Struggling Hamburg fire coach

Hamburger SV have fired Thorsten Fink as coach following a disappointing start to the Bundesliga. Hamburg chairman Carl Jarchow announced the club’s decision on Tuesday, saying the 45-year-old Fink was informed late on Monday.

“It was a difficult decision. We worked well together for two years,” Jarchow said.
The club’s sporting director, Oliver Kreuzer, said Hamburg were left with no choice. “We didn’t believe Thorsten could turn it around any more and that’s why we took this decision,” Kreuzer said. “He wasn’t expecting it. I could tell that from our conversation. He was disappointed, he was shocked. But we made the decision and Thorsten has to simply live with it.”
Kreuzer said Rodolfo Esteban Cardoso would take over on an interim basis for the second time, assisted by Hamburg youth team coach Otto Addo.
Fink’s side were routed 6-2 by Borussia Dortmund on Saturday and humbled 5-1 at home by Hoffenheim earlier. The team have conceded 15 goals and secured only four points from five matches.
