Taking on top teams
Universal Soccer School under-15 team is all set to confront the best football academies in the country during the Himachal Pradesh Football Festival from September 6 to 9. The team has left Kozhikode and will reach Nahan in Himachal Pradesh on September 4.
Universal Soccer School is the only team participating from South India and the tournament is a first-of-its kind initiative between the various football academies.
Apart from Universal, Mohun Bagan academy, Prayag United academy and Pune FC under-15 academy will line up for the competition.
“It will be a good experience for the kids to take part in it. Usually, there are no tournaments for academies at this level.
If there are more such tournaments, there will be proper growth for the players,” said CM Deepak, coach of Universal Soccer School.
“The players are in a great mood. We had extensive training sessions in the last few weeks. We had three friendly tournaments, and one of them was against the Guruvayurappan College team.
They performed well, and I think we can expect a good result from the team in the tournament,” said Deepak.
“It will be only through these kinds of championships that our players will get more exposure to the game. Moreover, competing against the top-notch club academies will help improve the skills of the players,” added the coach.
