Ten-member squad for Thailand meet

The Indian Blind Sports Association has named a 10-member team for the Thailand Open five-a-side international blind football tournament scheduled in Bangkok from August 18 to 23.

The team comprises five players from Delhi, three from West Bengal and two from Kerala and have a four-member support staff team. The team are undergoing intensive training in the capital from August 5 to 15. They will leave for Chennai on August 16 and fly for Bangkok two days later.
This is the first time ever that a team from India are participating in an international blind football event which will provide them with valuable exposure of an international competition.
As per the rules, the teams are allowed to field a goalkeeper who is partially blind. The remaining members use the sound produced by the ball to play in a field which is 40 meters in length and 20m in width.
