TFA players to train in Sheffield
A team of senior players from the Tata Football Academy will undergo a training stint in Sheffield under the coaches of professional English football club Sheffield United Football Club next month.
“A 20-member team of senior players accompanied by four coaches will leave on September 1 to undergo a three-week advanced training till September 22 under their professional coaches,” senior manager of Tata Football Academy, M.R. Bhalla said.
The programme is a part of a tie-up that TFA had with SUFC two years ago, he said adding that the training was aimed to provide exposure.
Besides, the tour would also provide opportunity to fine-tune all aspects of the game including the skills, technique under the tutelage of SUFC coaches, he said. Apart from the advanced training, TFA will also play four to five matches against the Sheffield Under-19 team, Bhalla added.
Besides the TFA coach, the team will be accompanied by a physio-therapist, physical trainer and coaches of TFA’s grassroot programme to share their experiences with the English team counterpart, he said.
