Vasant Valley, Tagore I’ntl set up title clash
Vasant Valley School, Vasant Kunj, will face Tagore International School, East of Kailash, in the final on the Delhi Soccer Associations’ inter-school girls football tournament after registering wins by a similar margin over their semi-final opponents on Saturday.
In the first semi-final at the DDA Netaji Subhash Sports complex, Tagore International edged past Alcon Public School, Mayur Vihar, 1-0. The winning goal was struck by Dalima Chhibber in the 25th minute.
Alcon Public School made repeated attempts for the equaliser but the alert Tagore International defence kept them at bay.
In the second semi-final, Vasant Valley School, too, defeated Father Agnel School, Noida 1-0. The winning strike for Vasant Valley School came through Naina Lal in the 34th minute.
Naina converted from the spot after the referee awarded a penalty for for a rough tackle inside the box.
Like the earlier game, the second half remained goalless. The final will be held at the same ground on September 8.
