Youngmen hold Rangers
Youngmen Sports Club held Royal Rangers FC 2-2 in their Group B preliminary league match of the DLF ONGC SAIL Delhi Soccer Association annual senior division league clubs’ championship at the CWG Sports Complex in the capital on Wednesday.
Youngmen FC, trailing 1-2 in the initial half proceedings, came back in to the game through combined efforts of their young lads.
The Royal Rangers took the lead in the 10th minute when their inside-left Manik headed home off a fine corner kick taken by Ashish Rawat.
The team increased the tally in the 36th minute through a fine volley by Pankaj Negi from the top of the box.
Jolted by this reverse, Youngmen SC bounced back just before breather and reduced the margin in the 44th minute following a penalty kick conversion by striker Akshey Hooria.
In the second half, Youngmen put up a dominant show with a few good moves initiated from both the flanks.
In the 84th minute, Hooria’s solo effort paid dividends as the team managed to pull off a draw.
Earlier, in another Group B match, City Football Club played a goalless draw against Indian Air Force, New Delhi.
At the DDA Netaji Subhash Sports Complex, Veterans FC rallied to hold Tarung Sangha FC 1-1. Tarun Sangha opened the account in the 37th minute through Nigerian striker Ifeanyi while Veterans restored the parity in the 87th minute through inside-right Vipin Kumar, who later received a caution card.
