Aditi, Gurbani face off
Aditi Ashok and Gurbani Singh — the two top players on the IGU-Usha Women’s amateur tour — clash again at the Western India ladies golf championships at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club this week.
Aditi, who leads the Order of Merit, will headline the field that includes all the top names.
The Bengaluru lass has been at the forefront of the Indian challenge at international events but this year, she has been chased hard by Delhi’s Gurbani.
Gurbani has won the Usha Southern India and Usha West Bengal, where she shot a record round of six-under at Tollygunge.
On the other hand, Aditi has won two titles in this calendar year at the Delhi Ladies Open and the Army Ladies Open. She however, missed out on the honours in the regional majors — the Southern, Northern and Eastern events.
She won the Usha All India Amateur in Chandigarh, which she will defend in Kolkata in December.
With just 20 points (for best six results) separating the two, Gurbani will be looking forward to closing that gap further as the seasons enters the closing stages.
There are only two more events left with the Usha Maharashtra Ladies and Usha All India Amateur.
