Ankita, Vani share early lead
In wet and overcast conditions, Bengaluru’s amateur golfer Ankita Kedlaya turned in a sizzling card of two-under to share the opening day’s honours with Vani Kapoor in the seventh leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
At the Eagleton Golf Resort, Shweta Galande shot one-under at the par-72 course to take lie in third place with the fancied Neha Tripathi returning an even-par card for fourth.
Ankita, who started proceedings with a birdie, saved shots on the 11th and the 16th, the only blemish of the day coming on the 15th hole.
Vani too carded one bogey, on the fifth hole.
At two-over 74, Ankita Tiwana was placed fifth. A stroke adrift, Benguluru duo Nikki Ponnappa and Rani Sonti are tied for the sixth spot.
Smriti Mehra shared the eighth place with Saaniya Sharma at four-over 76.
The seventh leg will be followed by Leg 8 (August 20 to 23) at the KGA.
