Baisoya ahead of pack
Delhi’s Honey Baisoya carded a two-under 68 to take the sole lead at the midway stage of the PGTI Feeder Tour at the Rambagh Golf Club in Jaipur.
Overnight leader Baisoya now has a total of six-under 134. Close of his heels was Angad Cheema of Panchkula at five-under 135.
With the cut declared at six-over 146, 38 professionals made the money rounds.
A 10th tee starter, Baisoya (66-68) found his first birdie on the 12th hole — thanks to his brilliant chip-in shot. He dropped shots on the 13th and 14th, before roaring back on the par-5 17th where he found the green in two. Baisoya missed an eagle chance on the 17th but compensated it with a birdie.
The young rookie further picked up shots on the 18th and first holes to make it three birdies in a row — including a 15-foot putt on the first. “I’ve been consistent on the first two days and earned the reward for it. I had a better finish today as compared to yesterday as I made good pars on the last two holes. I hit it well today to set up some birdie opportunities.
“My chipping was great and I sank a few crucial putts. I will ll look to keep the intensity going in the final round,” said an elated Baisoya.
Cheema (69-66), also a rookie on the PGTI, posted the joint best score of the day. His four-under 66 on Wednesday included two eagles, three birdies and three bogeys. He chipped-in for an eagle from 30 yards on the seventh.
Balwinder Singh Mattu’s 66 was the day’s best score along with Angad Cheema’s round. The Jalandhar-based Mattu was third along with Richard Stephen Hilton of Dehradun on three-under 137.
Local lad Vishal Singh was tied 10th with a score of even-par-140.
