Chadha, Ali make the cut
Delhi’s Ankur Chadha (36 points) and Tutul Ali (27) of Kolkata qualified for the Callaway World Junior Golf Championship in San Diego from July 12 to 15.
The two winners from groups A and B will get to compete with more than 1,100 juniors from 54 countries, next month at San Diego.
Chadha, 17, who returned to action after a gap of one year, said, “The break was because of my board exams. It was a pleasure winning the national final of the Callaway Golf Junior Tour. This victory has motivated me to practice hard for a month now.” Chadha has some international exposure having participated in the Asia Finals in China and in the Mercedes Trophy in Thailand
Ali,who comes from a family of golfers but has never played abroad said, “I give the credit to my father Sajan Ali. I am really happy to have got this opportunity from Callaway to represent India.”
Besides Chadha and Ali, seven year old Shubham Jaglan, with a sponsorship by the Golf Foundation, will also make an appearance at the Callaway tournament next year. Jaglan with 16 points was the winner of the group E category.
