Chandra in lead
Yashas Chandra of Mysore rode a terrific start, sinking three birdies on the first six holes, to card a two-under 70 for the lead on Day One of the Usha IGU junior golf championship at the Shivalik Course in Chandimandir, near Chandiga-rh.
Chandra, who is from JWGC, Mysore, found birdies on the third, fourth, sixth and the 13th holes.
He dropped shots on the ninth and the 12th, and parred his last five holes.
Roshan Raj from Eagleton, Bengaluru, was second after shooting even par 72 along with local Hemant Kumar Yadav.
Roshan also had a good start with birdies on the first and the third and later had two more on the 11th and the 13th holes. But his double bogeys on the 10th and 18th spoilt the day. Yadav had three birdies and three bogeys. S. Sidhartha and Viraj Madappa shot 75 each to be placed tied fourth.
Piyush Sangwan led in the B category at three-over par 75 followed by Sachet Sharan Sund from Kapurtala at four over par 76. Sangwan had three birdies and five bogeys.
Kartik Digvjay Singh, Ritwik Jain and Adilbir Singh were tied third with rounds of 77 each.
